About Age & Disability Friendly Sacramento County

On February 25, 2025, the Board of Supervisors approved Sacramento County's Local Age and Disability Friendly Action Plan (LADAP), launching a community-driven effort to advance accessibility, inclusion, and equity for older adults and individuals with disabilities.

Sacramento County joined the AARP Age-Friendly Network of States and Communities in 2021. Once enrolled in the network, a community begins a multi-year cycle consisting of a community assessment, action plan, and progress reports. Sacramento County conducted the community assessment in 2022 and will complete a  local age and disability-friendly action plan by the end of 2024.

On March 17, 2025, an uplifting launch event was hosted at Sacramento State, where over 300 residents and 50 resource agencies came together to celebrate the approval and completion of the Action Plan.

On April 24, 2025 the Action Committee kicked off its first meeting to unite local leaders, advocates, and service providers in beginning implementation of the LADAP.

Sacramento County's Action Plan will align with both the AARP's Eight Domains of Livabilityas well as the California Master Plan for Aging's Five Bold Goals.
