  1. Welcome & Introductions by Chair — Co-Chair Kristen Stauss called the meeting to order at 2:00 PM. Guests and commissioners introduced themselves briefly.
  2. Roll Call — Commissioners Present: Kristin Stauss, Sery Tatpaporn, Sharon Jennings, Maureen Sullivan, Debra Larson, Catheryn Koss, Solomon Chis, Debra Bonner, Harrison Linder, Dawn Angelo
  3. Requests for Remote Participation under the Brown Act - None

  1. AAC Business & Initiatives — ACTION

a. County Board of Supervisors Report

No report.

b. SAS Report – Contessa Bunn (SAS)

  • Hosting first LADAP Action Committee event on April 24.

  • Attended ADA compliance webinar addressing visible and hidden disabilities.

  • Recommends AAC receive future training on implicit bias, IHSS, APS, and other programs.

  • M. Sullivan noted a training on disability and sexual abuse is available. Co-Chair suggested adding the information to future agenda.
  • c. Ad Hoc Committee Updates
  • Housing & Homelessness
     Workplan for June completed and will be presented at next meeting.
     Members: M.  Sullivan (Lead), Rabbi Matt Rosenberg, D. Larson

  • AAC Initiatives, Behavioral Health & Program Monitoring
     T. Abah has drafted the workplan. A full plan will be shared at the next meeting.
     Members: Sery Tatpaporn (Lead), Sharon Jennings, T. Abah

  • By-laws Committee
     Drafted a workplan. Lead to distribute next month.
     Members: Suzanne Nye, Debra Larson

  • Public Awareness & Advocacy
     Lead will schedule a meeting to review the rough workplan.
     Members: Kristen Stauss (Lead), Dawn Angelo, Rabbi Matt Rosenberg

  • 5 Over 50 Awards
    Awards ordered and winners notified. Event will be May 20 at the Board of Supervisors chambers (700 H Street). Time TBD.

  • Area 4 Agency on Aging (A4AA)
    Sara Martinez: RFP process continues, to be finalized in May.

  • Aging Resources Exchange
     Co-chaired by Catheryn Koss and Debra Larson.
     This month's speaker: Nursing faculty on smart home tech and fall risk detection.
     Next speaker: Donna Jensen (CSUS Gerontology). Materials sent to commissioners.

9. Recruitment & Orientation Committee (ROC)

D Angelo:

  • Welcomed new commissioners:
  • C Koss (rejoining); S Chis and H Linder
    Introduced applicants:
  • John Moya and Mary Kay Williams

  • Noted that the commission now has 13 members.

  • Upcoming onboarding session after meeting.

  • May 21 social hosted by S Chis at Happy Memories Senior Care, Folsom – includes lunch, facility tour, and resident introductions.

10. Announcements — Open Forum and Discussion

11. Public Comment (limited to three minutes per speaker) — No Action

  • S Tatpaporn: Met with Edwin Sevilla (NorCal Regional Director, Senator Adam Schiff's Office) – open to collaboration.
  • D Larson.: Suggested inviting the Conservator's Office to present at a future meeting.
  • M Kay: Flagged November/December meetings as near holidays.
    1. Chair: No meetings in Nov/Dec.
  • H Linder: Interested in joining ad hoc committees.
    1. Dawn: To be discussed during onboarding; mindful of quorum.
  • D Bonnerr.: El Hogar is planning an aging conference.
  • S Tatpaporn: Asked about Aging Resource Exchange.
  • C Koss: Monthly virtual meeting open to aging services professionals, originally an in-person breakfast event.
