Public Health Investigating Possible Norovirus Outbreak
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Sacramento County Public Health is investigating a possible Norovirus outbreak at Elverta Elementary School. So far,
33 students and 5 faculty members have presented with symptoms.
Out of an abundance of caution, Public Health Officer, Dr. Olivia Kasirye has advised that the school close to allow for a deep cleaning.
"Public Health is working closely with school officials to investigate the outbreak," says Dr. Olivia Kasirye.
Norovirus is the most common cause of acute gastroenteritis in the United States. Common symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps and can last for 1-3 days.
