Sacramento, CA – Sacramento County’s WIC website received a user-friendly makeover; now it is easy to learn online how to apply for WIC services, and to locate information about nutrition and breastfeeding.
With links to an online eligibility assessment and a handy income chart, many families may be surprised to find that they qualify for program services such as free nutritional foods, including: milk, cheese, whole wheat bread, fruits and vegetables. According to the online income chart, a family of four can make up to $20 an hour and still qualify.
To apply for WIC services, interested persons should first identify the WIC location nearest to them. All WIC locations are listed on the webpage. Second, they should call 876-5000 to make an appointment. Last, they should bring all items listed on the webpage to their appointment. This includes:
• Everyone intended to enroll
• Identification for everyone (photo i.d., birth certificate, etc.)
• Proof of income (for example: pay stub, Medi-Cal card, unemployment benefits statement, etc.)
• Proof of address (any document or piece of mail with the applicant’s address)
To save time, families have the option to watch a “Welcome to WIC Video” on their home computer, before their first appointment, instead of attending the informational class at a WIC location.
