Sacramento, CA – Following a rigorous recruitment, Sacramento County Executive, Brad Hudson, will recommend that the Board of Supervisors appoint Dr. Olivia Kasirye, M.D., as Public Health Officer on February 7th.
“After a thorough statewide recruitment process, we are pleased to have found such a qualified candidate,” said Don Nottoli, Chair of the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors.
Dr. Kasirye has been with El Dorado County as Public Health Officer since August 2009 and has more than 20 years of experience including her work as the Medical Director of the Sacramento County Child Health and Disability Prevention program and the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health program as well as the Communicable Disease Controller.
Kasirye received a Medical Degree from the Makerere University Medical School in Kampala, Uganda. She holds a Master of Science degree in Epidemiology from the University of California, Davis and is Board Certified in Public Health and General Preventative Medicine.
If appointed, Kasirye will assume her position effective February 8, 2012, following the retirement of Dr. Trochet on September 9, 2011. Dr. Laurie Werner will continue to serve as Interim Public Health Officer through February 7th.
