- Buy legal fireworks from reliable sellers only. Never use illegal fireworks.
- Read and follow all directions and warnings on the label.
- Make sure there’s always an adult present. Don’t let children play with or ignite fireworks.
- Light the fireworks on a smooth, flat surface, outside, and away from the house or any flammable materials.
- Never ignite fireworks in a metal or glass container.
- Be sure other people are out of range when lighting fireworks.
- Never point or throw fireworks at anyone.
- Don’t try to relight a “dud.”
- Keep a bucket of water on hand.
- Stay alert. Don’t use alcohol or other drugs when lighting fireworks.
- Soak used fireworks in water before disposing of them.
