Program provides low income County residents health care coverage until full implementation of the Affordable Care Act goes into effect in 2014
SACRAMENTO, CA – Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 17th, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-05), representatives from Sacramento County and Molina Healthcare will hold a press conference celebrating the launch of the Sacramento County Low Income Health Program (LIHP). They will be joined by senior officials from Sutter Health, Dignity Health as well as community health clinics and providers who make up the LIHP provider network. Kaiser Permanente, who has agreed to participate in LIHP and will be entering contract negotiations later this month, will also be participating.
LIHP is an optional health care coverage program for counties. It expands coverage to eligible low income adults. This program will transition into Medi-Cal Managed Care in 2014 due to the Affordable Care Act. Sacramento County has contracted with Molina Healthcare to maintain the provider network and complete necessary required administrative functions.
